    1. In correct. JFK was handed the Bay of Pigs that was planned during the previous admin. He reluctantly went ahead but specifically told the organizers that no US marked military planes were to be used.

The CIA never provided for it yet expected JFK to order in air support anyway. It failed miserably. JFK kept the world out of nuke war with the blockade.

      1. Kennedy scaled back the planned air support to the point that it was completely useless. Everything points to sabotage of the mission to get rid of the pesky Cuban expats who probably would have refused to stand down and been a diplomatic embarrassment. Not only was the air support missing, the supply ships were unprotected and the location of landing was moved to a reef. Kennedy got us into Vietnam, but didn’t think Cuba was worth a fight.

    2. I think that the USSR was the cause of the Cuban Crisis. If it wasn’t for JFK, Cuba today would have a Russian missile base there.

    3. At the time the US had overwhelming military superiority and could have destroyed the Russian missile sites in Cuba before they were operational. The scale of summary executions presided over by Che Guevara was reason enough to intervene. Kennedy was complicit in condemning Cubans to economic ruin and social decline, while exposing Latin America to Communist insurrections that are still causing misery to this day.

    1. The Bay pig spelled because the CIA lied to Kennedy and he towed you for stand out. He didn’t allow air cover because he was lied to by his general chief of staff in the CIA.

  2. Late in the evening of Thursday November 21st 1963, The President & Mrs Kennedy arrived at their hotel in Fort Worth via motorcade. After getting out of the presidential limousine, Kennedy did not disappoint the roped off crowd that gathered to see him & he started shaking hands randomly with the public for a few minutes, before proceeding into the hotel. This was a very anxious moment for the secret service, since it would be harder for them to see if anyone intended to harm the President at night. The next morning, Friday November 22nd as the presidential party arrived at Carswell Air Force base in Fort Worth, for the short 20 minute flight to Dallas, Kennedy remarked, “Last night would have been a hell of a time to assassinate the president” ( Source-Kennedy, The Final Hours)

  3. I found this very interesting ! JFK was definitely one of the best Presidents we have ever had. I remembered the day he was shot. I was in the 7th grade and we watched it on the television. We all cried for hours 😪💔

    1. It was sad that he was shot and killed, but let’s not let that affect our perception of his ability to lead. Far from a great president; mediocre at best.

    2. I grew up in a Detroit suburb, with a very heavy population of transplanted white Southerners. Although our mainstream students with long-standing roots in Detroit were grieving, the children of the transplanted Southerners were joyous and celebrating. I assume this celebration continued all through the South. I wonder if our Southern neighbors are still celebrating the Assassination of J.F.K.?

      1. Born and raised in the South and cried my eyes out when he died. I was 18 and it was a terrible thing that happened that day. So much cover up afterwards. So many took this to their grave and never told the truth about his dealth.

  4. JFK’s diseases or his ongoing back issues never interfered with his affairs regarding his revolving doors at the White House. Jackie would leave & his lady friends would arrive.

      Look before you shoot😉😉.

Let’s get real yeah that has been going on since we built this country, get your head out of the sand

  5. Although the Kennedy family was in the spotlight so many times , it was thru John , Robert & Ted that many programs flourished and brought into attention they as Americans were not immune to devastating actions that hinder , expose that we all have shortcomings . 6. There have been many good presidents in this country but his private life was his and it does not take anything from his excellent job and yes show mme one president who did not make mistakes. He was the greatest

    1. agree. He saved the word from WWWIII Castro was a nut and between then Kenndy and Kruschev, the world was saved. I came to the USA at age 16 in 1961, my parents and relatives were still there, they would have been obliterated > JFK inherited the plot from Ike and Nixon

  7. I appreciate the fact that despite serious health his father used wealth to h get his son in the Navy. He also did a very good job of getting things accomplished even while his VP was doing his best to undermine him. As for affairs?.Like many powerful men,who had mistresses, he still got things done. I don’t believe he was the CDC best but definitely among the best presidents we have had. Appreciated learning more about him.

    1. Unfortunately, it was his father, Joe who made the deal with the Mafia to help get Kennedy elected.
Ironically, Robert his brother was the attorney general and his platform was to bring down the mafia through a senate investigation. Joe never discussed that with his 2 sons , who had real plans to “make America great again”

  8. JFK and Jackie were the first white house residents that did not look like your grandfather and grandmother. He was good looking and Jackie was a beautiful. I

  9. Well, winning the Pulitzer is no big deal, Obama won a Pulitzer and hasn’t done a damn thing for it besides polarizing the whole darn nation and the world…. right?

    1. I’m so sick of you jackasses who at EVERY turn feel the need to malign one of, if not the greatest presidents we will EVER have! Yet, y’all sing the praises of the lowest forms of intellect a human form can have! Trump is by far , and this includes the other evil white men who also held the office, the worst and most harmful president thus far! If we were talking superlatives, he would win for all the WRONG reasons! He didn’t do a SINGLE good thing for our country, yet he never lets that get in his way of lying about it! He’s caused so many divides that we…meaning your dumbness really believe what he has told you! What’s SO crazy, he doesn’t CARE about you either! It’s literally delusional!

  10. People all over the world had pictures of JFK hanging in their living rooms. That’s leadership. He was loved by nearly all Americans. He inspired us to greatness. This is why the right hated him.

  11. I remember the day he was assassinated I was 12 years old and I was just in total shock to be a 12 year old. I watched it on TV. Every every minute I could it really tore it my heart and even today I still feel pain from that day.

  12. I thought he was a very good President. I was only 8 when he was shot and killed. I remember it being a very terrible day and things would never be the same again. Things have definitely only gotten worse over the years. I enjoyed reading things about him I didn’t know.

  13. I enjoyed the article. I was one of those kids watching his death on television and in school. He had a hard life and I think he did his. I respected and I liked his attitude towards the world. He was very good looking man.

  14. JFK was a great president ! Adored him ! I wish he had, had a longer life span ! He was good looking and his son was very handsome too. Think they would have done great honor to the country!

  15. Was it JFK who said “don’t ask what America can do for you but what you can do for America”(not exact but something similar). It would be good if all world leaders could reiterate this regularly with regard to their own respective country.

  16. Kennedy was burdened with the bay of pigs as his father influenced the mafia to get him Michigans electoral vote in exchange for Cuba to be re-opened to mafia gambling, that failure led to his death. on his deathbed a very high standing crime family boss stated, “we killed the wrong brother” meaning Robert Kennedy turned out to be the mafia’s bigger problem.
