5. There’s a community of blondes in Paraguay
Chances are this following fact will surprise you. In 1887, Elizabeth Nietzsche, the sister of Friedrich Nietzsche, built an entire community of blonde people in Nueva Germania, a small village in Paraguay.
As the name suggests, she aimed to create a “New Germany” that is predominantly made up of white people. The first thing she did was ship off all the qualified people to an isolated village in Paraguay. It seems that Richard Wagner’s ideal inspired Elizabeth to come up with the idea.
To this day, the village still exists.
6. Women have historically done strange things to get blonde locks
Next on our list of facts about blonde women is something that may horrify you. Long before the first bleaching kit (by the way, you can find plenty on Amazon), women used to spend several hours on their balconies bathing and rinsing their hair with Aqua Bionda. This potion claimed to turn dark hair into blonde hair as it gets exposed to the sun.
Upon applying it, women would wear a crownless straw hat. Only their faces would be shaded, while their hair had to stay out over the hat, exposed to the sun.
Because they spent too much time under the sun, some women experienced heatstroke, headaches, and nosebleeds, with some going bling.
