6. A 16th-century queen’s hairpin
No. 6 on our list of crazy things found in the toilet is an object that most people probably don’t know what it is if they were to discover it in their toilet. But archaeologists had an idea about what it was.
Imagine the surprise of a team of French experts who were excavating an old communal toilet located at Fontainbleu Palace to prepare the area for restoration when they accidentally discovered a rare treasure: a hairpin.
But it wasn’t just a normal hairpin. The object pulled from within the depths of the old restroom itself turned out to belong to 16th-century Queen Catherine de Medici. The archaeologists identified her as the object’s owner by the interlocking “C’s” at its head.
