2. Coca-Cola and Italy
Italy is one of the most popular countries in Europe, and many people love to travel to this place just to experience La Dolce Vita, get to know the culture, taste the amazing food, and be impressed with the landscapes.
But since we talk about surprising facts about the world, one thing not a lot of people know is that Italy is only 25 years older than the tasty Coca-Cola drink.
The original version of this brown fizzy drink was patented in 1885 and debuted in 1886. But 25 years before this event, in 1861, Italy became a unified country. Before that point, Italy was part of different empires or was a collection of states.
Until reunification, Italy had most recently been ruled by Napoleon’s French Empire, and after the 1861 reunification, it became a monarchy. But the history of this country continues, and after the devastating events of World War II, the European state became a republic in 1946, and its current constitution was adopted in 1948.
