This is one of the creepiest and most surprising facts about the world, and you’ll see why in a second. You probably know that France was one of the last countries to abandon the punishment of executing people by guillotine.
What’s mind-blowing is that when “Star Wars”, one of the most loved movies that were ever produced, came out, France was still punishing people with the help of the guillotine.
The last execution of this type that took place in France happened in 1977, when a man named Hamida Djandoubi was executed for the fact that he tortured and killed his partner. That was the year the beloved “Star Wars” first hit movie theaters, so it’s quite incredible how these two completely different things took place around the same time.
