New York used to be “New Orange” for a short period of time.

Before the Big Apple, New York was called New Orange. In fact, when the Dutch captured New York from the English back in 1673, they quickly renamed it New Orange in honor of the famous William III of Orange. The English army regained control the next year and decided to ditch the “orange.”

In 2014, someone found a good match on Tinder. They were living in Antarctica.

Tinder is a famous dating app across the globe. You might think that no one would use it on the least-inhabited continent, Antarctica, but as a matter of fact, they did. It all happened when a pair of research scientists—a man working in McMurdo Station and a woman who was living in a 45-minute helicopter ride area—found each other on Tinder.
