9. A huge mammoth bone

When it comes to shocking things buried in a backyard, you’d never expect to see the huge bone of a…mammoth! During the year 2010, an Iowan family anticipated a typical day. But their luck was against them! They noticed a white object peeking out of the ground while harvesting fruit in their garden.

The digging began out of curiosity, and when they discovered it was a 16-inch and 15-pound mammoth femur, they immediately called the authorities. With continued excavation on the family’s property, paleontologists found a few more bones but not the animal’s skull. These bones were around 12,000 years old. That’s unbelievable!

10. A Ferrari car

This is probably one of the most shocking things buried in someone’s backyard! No, who would possibly come up with the idea of burying a car? This is the story of some folks from Los Angeles who let their kids play in the backyard. While the children had fun digging they found a Dino 246 GTS Ferrari model. Stupefied, they ran to their parents to let them see what they had discovered on the ground.

Authorities came to the location, started excavating, and with a tad of further investigation, came to the conclusion that the car was stolen and buried by the burglars. I wonder, how nobody from the neighborhood noticed somebody who was trying to bury a car. Weird indeed!

Perhaps the people who buried the vehicle weren’t robbers. What if the Ferrari was their vehicle and they intended to commit insurance fraud? I guess we’ll never find out!
