7. A graveyard
If you are from New Orleans, then you probably know that its citizens have some weird stories about deceased people. That’s why this next story about shocking things you can find buried in your backyard might be a bit…let’s say, unusual. While he was digging up a hole to build a swimming pool, he found an 18th-century gravestone.
There were thirteen caskets containing human remains in all, but the owner wasn’t exactly concerned about this. They must be like that because death culture is so deeply embedded in New Orleans society, I suppose. What would you do if you found out your home was built on top of a cemetery? Would you be scared? Tell us in the comments.
8. 650-year-old treasure
How lucky can you be to find a treasure while digging up a hole to make a swimming pool? This is the story of an Austrian man who was lucky enough to find a 650-year-old chest that contained around 200 rings, gold and silver plates, brooches, and other ornament pieces encrusted with corals and pearls.
We don’t know for sure if he benefited from the treasure or if the authorities just kept it in their custody.
