They drove no other cars except for Model T

When Model T (aka Tin Lizzie) was invented in 1908, the regular American was not an avid fan of driving. Better said, one could not afford the other cars on the market. Model T had a somewhat lower price, namely $850, more and more people started taking driving lessons.

If we were to compare things back then with things today, well, there’s no comparison really. Just imagine that in nowadays, almost 90 percent of Americans know how to drive. Not to mention they have numerous car models and brands to choose from, not just one.

Horse and buggies were everywhere

Given that cars were a rare sight one hundred years ago, streets were filled with horses and buggies. It was the main means of transportation back then. It was practical to own horses as they could also be used in rural areas, to help farmers with work. A car was not particularly helpful in that respect.

Compared to their popularity and practicality one hundred years ago, buggies and horses are now used as part of tourist activities.
